ARRIVING TO CAMP WITH YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION – CGI @ 11:31 am PST
Please arrive at 1:00pm and check in with Mrs. Minkowitz in the main building. All campers must have their medical forms on file with the camp office.

DEPARTURE SCHEDULE JUNE 30 – CGI @ 11:18 am PST
Buses will be leaving from 770 Eastern Parkway at 11:00am sharp. Please be there at least one hour before departure. Please make sure that the camper has his bus pass, if not please visit the camp office upstairs suite 209.

If you are arriving with luggage to the bus please bring it to the yellow truck that will be parked nearby and have the $25.00 luggage fee ready.

If you did not receive your bus pass by mail you need to call the camp office at 845-292-9307 campers that do not have a bus pass will not be permitted to board.

CROWN HEIGHTS LUGGAGE PICKUP SCHEDULE – CGI @ 10:38 am PST
Campers that live in Crown Heights will have their luggage picked up on Monday June 29 between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Please have the $25 luggage fee ready when the driver arrives. You can also call the camp office at 845-292-9307 for approximate pickup time.

The Masmidim summer program at Camp Gan Israel in Parksville, New York, is being very selective with its enrollment for bochurim ages 14-15. “We want to maintain the high standard,” director Yosef Kramer told COLlive. He will be joined by Mendy Bronstein and Avremel Nelkin.

Although facing fierce competition in recent years, the Masmidim summer program at Camp Gan Israel in Parksville, New York, is being very selective with its enrollment.

Geared to 14 and 15 year-old bochurim, Masmidim is building on its successful 2008 summer, assembling a creative staff and arranging new programs.

“We are going to live up to last year’s height,” the program’s director Yosef Kramer told COLlive. “We had a Chasidus shiur every morning and night, a shiur in Reshimos every week and the bochurim wore white shirts.”

The Crown Heights-born Kramer, who spent 13 years in Parksville as a camper and staff member, is credited with rejuvenating the Masmidim program.

His counselors this year will be Mendy Bronstein and Avremel Nelkin. The learning teachers were not announced yet.

Rabbi Shmuel Lew, London’s Shliach and educator, spent a full week with the bochurim last year.

“The plan is to host other Roshei Yeshivos and Rabbonim this year,” Kramer said. “Shiurim will engage the bochurim on all levels, preparing them for a successful return to yeshiva.”

Situated amongst the beautiful scenery of the Catskill Mountains, the Masmidim get to express their youthful enthusiasm through nature hikes, overnights, sports, BBQ’s, exciting trips and many more new activities planned for this year.

The camp is directed by Rabbi Avraham Shemtov and Rabbi Yosef Futerfas.

“We want to maintain the high standard and individual attention and will have a limited enrollment,” Kramer added. “All Masmidim will also need to be interviewed before being accepted.”

Rebbetzin Menucha Lazaroff, a New York educator for more then 30 years, has passed away this morning.

He passed way at a Philadelphia hospital, where she spend this past year due to health complications. She was 92.

Born to Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Lipsker, Chief Rabbi of the Ukrainian city of Poltava and patriarch of the large Chassidic family, she was known for her intelligence and discipline.

She married R’ Eliezer Gershon Lazaroff in Tbilisi, Georgia, where many Lubavitch Chassidim flocked in those days. After being drafted to the Soviet army, Mrs. Lazaroff never saw her husband again, left alone to raise their two children.

The 3 member Lazaroff family lived in Paris and Jerusalem before moving to Brooklyn’s Crown Heights, where Mrs. Lazaroff worked as a principal and educator in the Lubavitch girls school Beth Rivka on Eastern Parkway.

She also played a roll in educating many young boys in her position as the camp mother of Camp Gan Israel in Parksville, NY.

She is survived by Mrs.Batsheva Shemtov, co-director of the Lubavitcher Center in Philadelphia, PA and Rabbi Shimon Lazaroff, Head Chabad Shliach of Texas.

PARKSVILLE, NY [CHI] — The Yarchei Kallah convention held in Camp Gan Israel in Parksville, NY over the weekend closed Motzoai Shabbos with a gala Melave Malka.

Addressing the crowd at the Melave Malka were Rabbi Yoel Kahn, Rabbi Yitzchok Yehudah Yeruslovsky, head of the Chabad Rabbinical Court in Israel, Rabbi Avrohom Shemtov, the host, Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Raskin, a Dayan in London, Rabbi Shmuel Lew, a Shliach in London, Rabbi Boruch Hertz, the Rav of the Chabad community in Chicago and others.
