As the campers gathered on the soccer field of Camp Gan Yisroel-NY, you could see anticipation written on their faces. Spellbound, they watched each carefully orchestrated scene with interest.

They were watching the Staff Play (the real one this time) which took weeks of preparation and hard work by the staff. Titled, “Return of the spirit”, this is an original play written and directed by Head Lifeguard Levi Pekar.
It tells of a Jewish boy who found himself among a Indian tribe. Masterfully acted out, one could feel the struggles he was going through in understanding his Jewishness.
The backdrops were detailed and accurate, the props beautiful and grand, the lines funny and meaningful, and the acting superb. All divisions of camp enjoyed this thriller and a good time was had by all.
