Sunday night the dedicated staff of Gan Yisroel were treated to a special yoghurt night. Featuring several flavors of yoghurt, an array of toppings and freshly made iced coffee the night was a great refresher especially due to the recent late nights in conjuction with BOG War and Bunk war. This week is the fourth week in the Gan Yisroel Elite program. Being that it is also the week before Chof Av (when Gan Yisroel traditionally visits the Ohel and 770) the theme of this week is The Rebbe. Campers will learn about what a Rebbe is and how the Rebbe cares and loves for each one of us. To start of the theme this week, campers assembled in the Shul where a video of the Rebbe was shown. Followed by a video conference was with Minnesota Shliach Rabbi Mendel Feller who spoke about the theme. Learning Director Shmuli Perlstein asked review questions on topics discussed during the videos. The Ceremony concluded with Head Counselor Shimon Gorkin announcing this week’s Mission. Campers can focus on emulating the Rebbe by being sensitive towards others or by the unique attententivness to details of Mitzvos, by saying Brochos inside the Siddur. Campers who completed last weeks’ mission (Moshiach week), were presented with a ‘Moshiach’ Mission medal. More photos in the full article.
Pictured below are the winners of this past week’s Talmidei Hashavua. Each week the learning teachers and directors meet and evaluate at length who will be awarded the prestigious certificate. In addition to the special certificate theses camper’s also received a special “Head Counselor” picture of the Rebbe. Absent: Kevutzah Beis – Yossi Lazar and Kevutzah Gimmel – Yaakov Yarmush.

This past Friday, Bunks Beis, Ches, Yud-Aleph and Yud Zayin were treated to two unique activities for winning Shabbos Competition. First up was an exclusive ice cream party complete with no less than twelve different condiment including delicious chocolate chips, colorful jelly beans, fantastic syrups and whip cream, to name a few. Following the sweet culinary experience the campers got to trial one of the several new activities that have been added to the Gan Yisroel lineup this year. Dubbed the Foam Machine. this activity utilizes a high pressure foam producing engine resulting in literally millions of bubbles which campers had a blast playing in. The three teams in BOG War: The war for Moshiach, presented their Grand Play’s Thursday night. With suspenseful scripts, spectacular acting and intricate props they all were fantastically arranged in a mere twenty four hours. First up was the Team of Birur with moving tale about a Doctor attempting to create and refine a cure for a terrible disease. Second was the Team of Leben who took the audience on a trip back in time to the Shabtai Tzvi saga and attempting to live with Moshiach in Golus times. Finally third was the Team of Achdus with a dramatic play about two brothers struggling to keep a family business united in the wake of their father’s death.
